When you book your one way car rental in Europe with Auto France, simply choose any combination of two locations and we will show you up front the full and final cost of everything. The Auto France package is unique in that we have an all-inclusive rate at the time of booking which includes full insurance, any potential associated location fees, taxes, or add-ons. We don't charge for extra drivers and you can even bring it back with your fuel tank empty without penalty.
There are no actual drop off fees associated with a one way rental in Europe with Auto France. Instead, all locations are assigned a certain flat rate cost ranging from $0-$300. Over 50% of our car rental locations in Europe are assigned the $0 rate, so the majority of Auto France clients therefore pay no fees at all regardless of the fact that their pickup and return location are different.
The general rule of thumb when it comes to location fees is that all locations within France and the French side of Geneva have $0 additional fee. Therefore, one can pickup a vehicle in Paris and return to Nice for the same cost as picking up in Paris and returning to Paris. You can choose any combination of Pickup and Return locations in France and the result is the same, no extra costs, location, or one way drop fees.
When you choose one of our locations outside of France, the fee varies by location. However, remember that these fees only apply at the location level therefore even if you have a fee for picking up at a place such as Amsterdam, you would not be subject to a location fee if returning to a French based location such as Paris. This a very smart approach to planning one way travel in Europe and getting the most value out of your journey as you are only responsbile for one location fee.
pro tip: If you are uncertain of your travel plans and feel you might need to return your vehicle outside of France, err on the side of caution and choose two French based locations anyway and save on fees upfront. If during the course of your journey your travel plans change, you can always change your return location by following the instructions we provide with your vehicle and pay the location fee at that time.
"We have used AutoFrance three times in the past in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy and have had excellent results each time. We are two couples, one from San Diego, CA and one from Toronto, ON and have been traveling together for seven years since originally meeting in Viet Nam/Cambodia. We normally travel a month at a time."
Favorite Stop 1 Althen-des-Plaudes My wife and I and another couple rented an entire 1500's monastery property for a week. www.TheMonastery.fr in the countryside of Provence France 20 minutes or so northwest of Avignon. Pictures 1 & 2 are of our lease car and The entrance to the Monastery
Favorite Stop 2 We toured many of the smaller towns and villages around Provence. Not enough room to post enough pictures but picture 3 is the Palais des Papes in Avignon and Picture 4 is the Pont du Gard, an old Roman aqueduct from around 50 AD.
Favorite Stop 3 Collioure, France is a small town of 3,000 nearly midway from Althen-des-Paludes on the Mediterranean Coast to Barcelona. There is a great castle to tour and several great seafood restaurants on the waterfront. Picture 5 is in front of the castle looking back at the town.
What's the best tip or trick you would "pay-forward" to someone looking to pickup or return to the locations you used?
"That is the "trickyest" part of leasing from AutoFrance. Many locations have been difficult to find and it is essential that you get the GPS drop off location input at the location you pick up the vehicle. Also, don't forget to advise the drop off location a few days in advance and ask for a confirmation email back."
"My daughters and I named our Peugeot "Odette" and we became quite fond of her ~ we drove to the beach, to castles, to local sites of interest (especially as we had family who had never been to France visiting), out to lunch (lots of crepes as we were in Normandie and Brittany mostly). In addition to our first and last long drives (from Calais to Haleine and then from Haleine to Paris), we took several long day trips and a long (7-hour!) weekend drive ~ Odette was ~ a great car & we were sorry to give her back."
Favorite Stop 1 Eslettes ~ we stayed in a FABULOUS B&B ~ after a slightly stressful drive (it was *very* windy!) our host made us a lovely dinner and an equally lovely breakfast ~ it was the perfect stop, halfway between Calais and our destination of Haleine in Normandie
Favorite Stop 2 Saujac ~ my youngest daughter and I drove 7 hours from where we were staying in Haleine to visit a friend in Saujac ~ we'd never visited that area (the Lot) of France before and had a great weekend ~ took a boat ride on the Lot River and then walked back up the Canal path, visited Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Cajarc, and Figeac ~ ate some wonderful food and saw a beautiful area of France.
Favorite Stop 3 Haleine, in Orne, Normandie ~ we have family here and using Haleine as our base, we took a lot of day trips, including trips to San Malo, the Mont-Saint-Michel (twice!), the Normandie beaches, Fougeres, Lassay-les-Chateaux, Domfront, etc.
Can you briefly describe why you would choose the AutoFrance Peugeot Program over a traditional car rental in Europe?
"because the price was good and the service was great. I am a big fan of Peugeot as my family had them when I was growing up ~ they are great cars."
What's the best tip or trick you would "pay-forward" to someone looking to pickup or return to the locations you used?
"Make sure to communicate with the people on the other end ~ our ferry from Dover was late, so we arrived in Calais after everything had closed. We had a moment of panic ~ but I got a hold of Peugeot and we only had a short wait until we were picked up."
One Way Car Rental GENEVA TO MUNICH - By KJKENLON
"One of our trips took us from Paris to Istanbul by way of Italy and Greece and back to Nice, France. Being accompanied by our grandson (aged 12) helped make this a special journey of learning and discovery for him as well as us. Having our own transport gave us the freedom to explore the back roads of the many countries we went through."

Favorite Stop 1 Naples, Italy. We drove downtown to the National Museum, South to Paestum and on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius to Herculaneum and Pompeii. The Partner behaved wonderfully in city traffic as well on country roads and the autostrada.
Favorite Stop 2 Feuchtwangen, Germany. The northern Bavarian geography and geology were shrouded in fog and rain most of the time we were in the area but the Partner moved us along smartly taking us to where we wanted to go along the Romantic Road.
Favorite Stop 3 Crozet, France (outside of Geneva) Seeing the places of interest in and around Geneva was just a prelude to our trek across the Haute Savoie and into the high Alps and through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Truly a varied and beautiful landscape.
Can you briefly describe why you would choose the AutoFrance Peugeot Program over a traditional car rental in Europe?
"Having a car from AutoFrance gives us a real peace of mind with the assurance of great insurance coverage. We also appreciate that we are able to go where we want and have either of us drive without any extra charges."
What's the best tip or trick you would "pay-forward" to someone looking to pickup or return to the locations you used?
"Picking up the car at the Geneva Airport could not be any easier. Just call and they appear to take you to your car. Dropping off the car in Munich is also easy but a bit disconcerting because the facility isn't obvious as it is in a farm building. Also the sign directing us to the drop off is partially obscured by a guard rail. The service is excellent, though, once you find it."
One Way Car Rental BARCELONA TO FRANKFURT - By M.MCDONALD
"Because we had the freedom to drive anywhere, we made arrangements to meet my high school friend (who currently lives in Sweden) in Vannes, Brittany. We met her husband and had a great time exploring the city and catching up. The chef at the restaurant came out to greet his guests and it turned out that he was from Boston, which is where my friend and I grew up."

Favorite Stop 1 Montebelluna, Italy. My husband, an accountant, had a married couple as clients, Charles and Gerda, who were Holocaust survivors. Gerda died first and Charles, 7 months later. As executor of Charles' wills, he was responsible for disposing of his possessions upon his death. We found a memoir Gerda had written about her experiences during WWII and how she and her parents were hidden by a family due the intercession of a monsignor in the town of Montebelluna. They were housed with a family there for a couple of years. Unfortunately, Gerda's parents were captured and sent to Auschwitz. The monsignor hid Gerda in the Catholic orphanage until after the war, when she was reunited with family members who had made it to Lisbon. We wanted to visit that town and I found, through the internet and Facebook, people in Montebelluna who remembered her (including the children of the family she lived with who are still living there), as well as, her second cousin from Paris. The town historian became aware of this and I shared Gerda's memoir with him. He invited us to stay in Montebelluna and participate in a presentation about Gerda and the monsignor. Approximately 300 people attended, including the aforementioned children (now grandparents)! Montebelluna is a beautiful small city about an hour or so north of Venice. It came to life for us because of Gerda's memoir and the amazing people who hosted us.
Favorite Stop 2 Fontevraud, France. I have long been an admirer of Eleanor of Aquitaine. After having been Queen of France and England, she lived out the rest of her life as prioress of the Fontevraud Abbeye. The abbey is a stunning medieval building which houses the graves of Eleanor, her husband Henry II, her son Richard the Lionheart and his wife, Isabelle. We stayed at a great farm inn a mile or two away from the abbey that provided goods and animals to the abbey starting in the 12th century when Eleanor was abbess! Our room was beautiful and from the 12th century, too! (But now with plumbing and electricity!)
Favorite Stop 3 Mainz, Germany is home to the Guttenberg Museum, but also very close to Bingen. It's a charming city on the Rhine with an unusual cathedral with opposite facing altars. The abbey that was founded by Hildegard von Bingen, mystic, scientist, and feminist(!) nun is no longer standing, but the order she founded is nearby and still in operation. A museum dedicated to her outlines her life and mystical visions. While there we were able to meet up with a friend from Kazakhstan who lives in Germany. We met her on a previous trip in Hungary (when we had another Peugeot). It was great to catch up and, as she is an American citizen now, my husband was able to help her with some US tax issues she had.
Can you briefly describe why you would choose the AutoFrance Peugeot Program over a traditional car rental in Europe?
"I love the fact that we lease a new car that I am confident will be reliable. I also like the "new in-transit" license plates. I feel that we "blend in" more with other drivers, rather than being obvious tourists."
What's the best tip or trick you would "pay-forward" to someone looking to pickup or return to the locations you used?
"If you take a taxi to the Barcelona pick-up location, insist that the driver use the latitude and longitude numbers rather than the address provided. The taxi's GPS had a very hard time finding the exact location."
One Way Car Rental TOULOUSE TO PARIS Cdg - L & D Perkins
"I'm from Mars; she's from Venus. Together we're off to see the world! With four one way leases with Auto France Peugeot Open Europe we have driven over 10,000 kilometers from Nancy to Avignon, Zurich to Milan, Toulouse to Paris and Milan to Rome.
Our simple travel rules are these: Move towards adventure full (legal) speed ahead! No backtracking. Minimize wasted time. Start every day with our song..."Happy to be alive and on the road again!"
With the freedom to pick up our new Peugeot at one location and drop it off at another we have explored wine regions from Burgundy to Chianti, mountains from the Alps and Dolomites to the Pyrenees and countries from France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco and San Marino. The reasonable fees charged for locations outside of France are offset by the convenience of streamlining our ambitious itineraries.
The thousands of photos we have remind us of the sights that took our breath away. Venturing high above the clouds in the Basque Country or carefully driving the dangerous balcony roads of the Pyrenees (see photos) are shared experiences we will never forget. We have been spoiled for choice of Chateaux to visit in Bordeaux, drawn to Pointe du Raz in Finesterre (the edge of the world according to the ancient Bretons) and confounded by unusual directional signs in Dinan!
No circles for us means that we choose to stay in many hotels, apartments or bed and breakfasts along our one way routes as opposed to returning to a home base each night. We think this must keep our brains flexible trying to figure out the new light switches, locks and coffee makers in each new accommodation! Driving distances are intentionally kept short so that we have time to explore each destination. Our entire itineraries are planned and booked several months ahead of departure and altered if needed on the road. This also saves time by eliminating the need to search for lodging.
Some may say that this method of travel removes spontaneity. We think it allows us to plan for market days, to attend special festivals like the Harang Roi celebration (all things herring) in northern France and to visit unusual museums like Hitler's former V2 launch site. Even more than these delightful surprises we can satisfy personal interests such as including visits to the Ducati motorcycle museum in Bologna and the Ferrari museum in Modena (for me) and the amazing drives into and stays inside the walls of Carcassonne and Saint Malo (for her).
In short, we love the freedom to forge ahead on our own unique paths exploring the amazing corners of Europe in a new Peugeot. The flexibility to design one way travel expands our horizon far beyond simple loops. Together we can take the best of our different travel wishes and combine them into future Mars plus Venus world travels! (photos to follow...having trouble uploading)"
